Tales of the Manor – Fun Animal Wallpaper – Ochre

This vintage-inspired wallpaper features quirky animals engaged in decidedly human pursuits — fishing, pouring tea, reading — each framed as a portrait on a hanging china plate.

Tales of the Manor is a collector's wall of overlapping white china plates, painted against a tonal damask background so it reads as wallpaper hung on wallpaper. A stag sits for his portrait in a military coat with gold epaulettes; a cat wears a captain's cap and an argyle jumper; a squirrel wears a red beret; a hare pours from a teapot; a frog in a waistcoat fishes at a pond, painted as a full landscape across an oval platter. A badger, a mouse and an owl appear on their own plates, and toadstools, ladybirds, a beetle, a lizard, butterflies and small birds are scattered between them.

Ochre is the richest of the four. The gold background carries its own tonal damask, so the wallpaper-behind-wallpaper effect is strongest here.

Tales of the Manor is an offset match with a 64cm pattern repeat, printed on a non-woven substrate: you paste the wall rather than the paper, which makes it quicker to hang and strippable when you remove it. Also available in Sage Green, Blue and Blush.
